Crazy Week

Oh my goodness I have been so busy! Do I have a lot to blog about or what? I think I will have to do it in list style so it doesn't seem too long.
Okay let me see...get ready!
The crazy week from HELL! This is a run down of the days following the Cars posting.
1. Monday- Bible School went to the fair had a blast!
2. Tuesday-Bible School, went to dance recital on stage which didn't start on time and lasted an hour instead of 15 minutes. Got stuff ready for Zoe's party.
3. Wednesday- Bible School, spent day getting ready for party and the rest of the night having Zoe's early birthday party. When your birthday is in the summer you tend to get the shaft because people are always out of town. So if you want anyone to come to your party you have to plan it when everyone can be there even if it is the week from HELL! Zoe had a friend over to sleep. We played beauty shop and they watched My Little Pony movie and fell asleep on the floor.
4. Thursday-Took girls to Bible School. If you notice I said "girls". No, William is not allowed to go because he is only 3. For some reason, churches don't feel like
2 & 3 year old children would enjoy Bible School or they just don't want to deal with them, I am not quite sure. This really offends me. I taught that age in Bible School back int the good ole days and I think they were great. Picked Zoe up early so she could get her dance picture made. At 6pm we went to on stage rehersal. At 8:30 we left. She missed her Bible School singing fun night and ice cream. She was very upset it was over when we got to church so I took her to Sonic for a JR. Banana Split.
5. Friday- I can see the end in sight if we can make it through tonight. I took Zoe to Bible school. We went home to "rest". We had to be at dress rehersal at 4pm. This was the most chaotic, frustrating thing I have ever endured as a parent. I can tell you right now, I would never make it as one of those stage moms. I don't think she will be going back to this unorganized mess next year. She didn't have dinner because it was too early. They were not allowed to have snacks or drinks. It was 8:30 before we left. Did I mention she is 4! She did her dance perfectly and was so good for that amount of time. (she was back stage the whole time) I thought she should get a big treat for being so great! I took her to eat at Sonic because that is were she wanted to go. I let her get in the front seat to eat. She was freaking out at first b/c she thought the police were going to get her in trouble. We had the best girl time!
6. Saturday- THE BIG DAY! I had a jewelry party in the morning. I rushed home got her ready to go to the recital. She was so tired she wasn't even smiling on stage and didn't remember her dance as well as normal. Most of the kids her age were not excited about getting left there AGAIN! As soon as it was over we took the kids to the Fair again. (the animals were there this time) I thought she deserved it for being such a trooper! They rode all the kiddie rides. They even rode the "roller coaster". I had to ride with them of course. Zoe loved it, William didn't really think too much of it. We had lemonade, french fries and the fair wouldn't be complete with out Cotton Candy. Did I mention Gigi and Grandad went with us? They were so tired William fell asleep on the 2 minute ride home.

7. Sunday- Father's Day. We weren't going to do anything and then my family decided to get together and cook out. We went swimming and my dad cooked Brauts and hot dogs. We of course had good old fashion Apple Pie with our all American meal! My brother showed up for the occasion and was a ghost. He thinks as long as his body is there it counts as a visit even if he is asleep the whole time! Nice talking to you Mike!

Whew! Thank goodness that is over. You are probably as tired of reading it as I was writing it. Moral of story. We will not be doing a dance recital in June!
Stay tuned for the exciting tells of birthday week!

Lemons to Lemonade

What a day! Have you ever noticed when everything starts to go your way and you have your whole day planned (for once in your life) something BIG is always going to throw you out of sinc?
Well today was that day.
My husband and I have no children this weekend and are planning a 10th anniversary trip. Our anniversary was during the "Crazy Week" post. I forgot to even mention it. I had just finished making a reservation for one night of our trip. I was SO excited because we had 2 days to plan this trip and I had finally found a place to stay after several plan changes due to no vacancies. We were going to the Guadalupe River to tube and go see my friends (which I haven't seen in 5 years )husbands band(The Small Stars)play at Gruene Hall, the oldest dance hall in Texas. I was so proud of myself. The laundry was going to be done the house was going to be cleaned so my husband and I could sneak away a night early and get a jump start on our trip. We would wake up in Austin....

This is where our story takes a HUGE turn. I went to put the clothes in the dryer when I noticed the laundry room was flooded. I then discovered my two bathroom floors were wet, a toilet had junk in it, as well as both the bath tubs. What a mess! I frantically called the plumber. I finally found one that could make it that day. After being told they would be there in 30 or 45 minutes, (after waiting 3 hours already) 2 hrs later they showed up. In the mean time I vacuumed water off the indoor/outdoor carpet in the laundry room and bathrooms. I mention the carpet specifically because I loathe it. The idiots we bought the house from recarpeted the whole house before they put it on the market and for some reason felt carpet in the ENTIRE house was a great idea! It will be gone next week. So..... instead of getting everything ready I cleaned and THEN got everything ready. At 10am the next morning, after waiting 2 HOURS for an oil change,(couldn't go the day before b/c waiting on the plumber) and having it out with my husband, we left. We are on are way...kinda. We got 1 block from our house and the car is shaking. At this point I am thinking that we really shouldn't be going on this trip. It finally seems to get a little better so we forge ahead. When we stopped for lunch my husband leaned over and hugged me and asked, "are we going to be okay?" I laughed and said,"Yes".
We made it to our destination just fine. We got the tires rotated. Problem solved. The rest of the trip was awesome! Just what we needed!

Day 1 of the Crazy Week

This is the week of, we-will-be-gone-from-the-house-everynight-for-7-days! We won't get to rest until the 8th day. I can guarantee you that I am not going anywhere that day!

Cars
Great movie! The kids loved it and it was great for adults too. I don't think I have went to an animated film so crowded on opening weekend since Shrek. Every show was selling out. The audience was pretty attentive, considering we in a room filled with that many kids. There was the occaisional kid yelling out and temper tantrum Only one kid was dragged out screaming and all of us were just hoping we didn't end up the same way!
The traffic up and down the stairs was pretty constant... lot's of potty breaks! Of course William waited until the last 10 minutes and just couldn't hold it anymore. We RAN to the bathroom. When we got there it was like Austin Powers. I didn't think he was ever going to stop peeing. He didn't either because in mid-stream he was ready to get back to the movie! This was just taking too long!
Then there was the kid that got sick, (which was actually about 1/2 way through the movie). I heard him cough and then the splat. I know that's gross, but that's what happened. I felt so sorry for him and his parents. They had to carry the poor child out. I immediatley broke out the anti-bacterial gel. My instructions, "Ya'll don't touch anything and keep your hands out of your mouth, nose and eyes, or you might end up like that kid." It seemed to work. They wouldn't even touch the hand rail going down the stairs. I didn't expect this outing to be that eventful, but when you go to the movies with your children you gotta know... anything is possible!

Catch Up

I think it has been like almost a month since I last posted a blog. Obviously I have been really busy. Before you have children you think you are so busy. Oh my goodness, I didn't even know what I was talking about. There have been so many things that have happened I have wanted to write about but I haven't taken the time. Here is a quick run down.

(as I am writing this my kids have hired a babysitter and are going on a trip from their "babies". I heard someone say get in and Zoe was zipping up William in a suitcase)

Okay

Zoe graduated from preschool. She was so beautiful. Her life flashed before my eyes when they asked "what do you want to be when you grow up" and she said a doctor.
She starts kindergarten in the fall. She was sad at first which really surprised me. We went to a Round-Up at the school and then she was excited. She still tells me sometimes that she doesn't want to be five or grow up. I agree with her.

Girl Club (that's what the call themselves)
I took Zoe and two of the girls in her class to get a pedicure and manicure for her birthday which isn't actually until June. One of the (4 girls in her class) is her best friend and will be in England on her birthday so I took them all to do something. They were so good and they loved it. By the time I had taken them to eat pizza and get their nails done, it was time to get ice-cream and go home. They were really disappointed that they didn't get to play together. I explained to them that getting pretty takes a lot time!

Swim lessons- 2 weeks and a waste of time. They still don't know how to swim

Family Reunion- My mom, dad, me and the kids went to Mississippi for our family reunion. We were pulling out of the driveway and my 3 year old said, "Are we there yet?" Classic! We got to see our cousins (none where we live) and all of our aunts and uncles. It is kind of country there so we also saw horses, cows, ducks, donkeys, goats. The kids love it! We stopped at GANDER MOUNTAIN (Gator Mountain as my kids call it) on the way back because both their pop shot guns had broken. Grandad bought them 2 more. That was 5 days ago. They are both broke again. My grandmother also has a lot of dirt gobblers (dobbers) at her house so the kids didn't get to play out much. Needless to say 2 days was enough.

We are back now and waiting for the next fun filled week. Coming soon... the movie CARS, the Hunt County Fair, Zoe's early B-day party b/c-everybody's-going-to-be-out of-town-on-her-real-b-day, Vacation Bible School, and her dance recital, dance pics, rehersals.

I hope I have time to blog! Just in case I don't this is why.
